Am I mistaking, isn't the Elmo ST-180 just a regular projector? Maybe it has a 5 blade shutter- but a BUY NOW of $2,400.

Gahd, I never thought this would be a regular feature on this board, but it looks like every month another used car salesman gets his hands on an ST-180 and tries to pass it off as an expensive telecine device. I have written no less than 5 fairly demanding emails to ebay about this fraud. They are real concerned about it...ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!! After all, their commish on $2400 is alot better than on $300 (what the projector is worth when the wind is blowing the right way). The last time, I contacted the idiot buyer and put him in touch with Irv Higdon, Elmo expert. Never heard what happened.
I am flippin' furious with ebay's stance on this. By shrugging off the whole thing with "we can't authenticate" they allow slimeballs to screw dummies, and they profit from it!
I also see that this slimester has set up a 10 day auction so that he has a longer time to catch a fish.

I think I'm going to sell my son's Ford Escort on ebay and say that it can reach speeds of over 500 mph, and just not mention that it needs to be in the cargo hold of a 747 to do it. Wanna bet that's OK with EBay, too? Also wanna bet I get a ridiculously high bid?

Jeez, I'm half tempted to do it.

My son would be pissed, though.

    Better not.

I'm not 100% offended by this.

Remember, Super-8 was unfairly and unceremoniously dumped in the early 1980's, Canon 1014XLS's were cleared out, new in box, for for $ 285.00!

The more the cameras and projectors sell for, the more they help re-value and therefore save other Super-8 products from the scrap heap.

    It's true.

Our energy is better spent on saving Super-8 film from no longer being made, and finding lower cost video transfer systems.

Yeah, but Alex, the reason these bozos are are paying such ridiculous amounts for simple 8mm projectors is because they are desperate to get out of Super 8 and on to video tape. Talk about being "unceremoniously dumped"!

But you're probably right: enough energy has been given to this. I'll just have to find another cause.

Mmmm...maybe a shelter for homeless variable speed projectors....I'll see if ebay wants to contribute!
